<image:title>Photo - Cherry Wander</image:title>

<image:title>Photo - Freeze</image:title>
<image:caption>During my first winter in the PNW I questioned a lot about the entire move into a climate that got this cold. One morning I decided to get over it and walk around campus as I needed to make amends with temperatures that would be part of my full experience.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This young couple caught my eye one night while on a walk near the water. The timing was perfect as the sun was setting and a bird was flying across the sky. <image:title>Photo - Portrait session</image:title>

<image:title>Photo - Murmuration</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s not every day that you get to share a piece of knowledge with a lifelong physicist, but on this day I did exactly that while walking alongside Marshall as our photoshoot was wrapping. There was a massive group of starlings moving swiftly through the air, as if all were tied to strings in perfect harmony and as we both looked up, I said “Wow, that’s a murmuration!”</image:caption>

<image:caption>I was tasked with gathering some new photos for our revamping of the college view book, which gets sent out to prospective students across the country. <image:caption>This is the first photo I have ever appeared in while on assignment for work. The ‘ballers’ you see in the background are me and our student assistant at the time who was a very good sport about being in the shot with me. I woke up early to make it to the sporting goods store to acquire a basketball for the photoshoot. Luckily no purchase of a hoop was required, as we made use of one on campus.</image:caption>

<video:description>Research at the 2026 World Cup During the summer of 2026, Seattle, Washington was one in a handful of cities in North America that hosted matches during the 2026 Men’s FIFA World Cup. Students enrolled in the Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities course at the University of Washington had a once in a lifetime chance to go into the field, immersing themselves in the heart of fan zones and watch parties to talk with visitors and fans as part of their community mapping research project. With an audio mixer along with two lavalier microphone receivers at my hip, and lots of camera batteries stuffed in my pockets, I was able to follow students around on what was their last day performing in-the-field research. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had ever behind the camera and I feel exemplifies the love I continue to discover with storytelling.</video:description>

<video:description>Ballard Bridge Cleanup I’ve discovered great fulfillment in lending my abilities behind the camera to causes that I’ve discovered through lived experience and now care deeply about. With pedestrian safety being one of those, I could not resist helping put this piece together that was sent to Washington State legislators and local government officials. Director’s note: This bridge is absolutely dangerous. I would not recommend walking, rolling or biking across — let alone walking up and down it for two hours cleaning debris buildup and documenting the entire thing.</video:description>

<video:description>The Fitness Rave When I first heard that two UW faculty members were going to collaborate in a muscle opera, I nearly fell out of my chair in excitement without hearing another word. From that point forward, I moved expeditiously in reaching out to learn more about this project and to my great fortune, the faculty members were incredibly receptive to having their work be documented. Ultimately, I timed it well enough to make it to the first rehearsal the following night after my initial email, and from there just rode the wave of creativity that everyone in this project was weaving together.</video:description>
